Game Description:
Dragon Quest V is a turn-based RPG for the Super Nintendo.
While DQV's graphics and battle system aren't much different from its predecessor, it's highly praised for its story.
Players take the role of the young son of Papas, a famed swordsman. The first half of the game follows the Protagonist's misadventures as he follows Papas from place to place. At the story's midpoint, the Protagonist's world is turned upside-down, and a time skip ensues. With adulthood comes adult responsibilities, and dilemmas the likes of which had scarcely been seen in RPGs prior.
The most fascinating new gameplay element is the ability to capture monsters and fight alongside your team, resulting in more characters to recruit, and more potential battle strategies.
Translation Description:
This is well done and very polished translation. It took three years to complete, and although much of that three years was chalked up while waiting for a small bug to be ironed out, the folks involved didn't sit idly by. The script was poured over and edited a great deal, resulting in a very loose translation with a lot of character. While it's not entirely a literal translation, the edits didn't go the extremes that Working Designs sometimes goes to. Some people will like the looseness, some will not. The choice is yours.
A minor fix patch should be out soon, that fixes names and such.
