Welcome Back.

Master Quest is a challenge mode for Persona 3 Reload designed for players already familiar with the game, seeking a fresh and tougher gameplay experience. Several tweaks are included in Master Quest with room for future updates and improvements based on community feedback.

Changes

Master Quest differs from the original game in the following way:
  • Most major bosses have been given smarter AI and/or increased stats. This includes all Full Moon bosses, Strega, The Reaper, Nyx Avatar, and Elizabeth.
  • Some bosses have received edits to their affinities. This can include becoming vulnerable to ailments such as Freezing, allowing for more party member combos.
  • Chidori's bossfight is no longer a scripted cutscene and features entirely new AI written from scratch.
  • Fixes a bug that allows cheesing the Reaper at Level 14.
  • Fixes an exploit that allows skipping Elizabeth's 3rd phase.
  • Aigis will be more intelligent when utilizing Orgia Mode.
  • The use of Revival items such as Band-Ace and Balm of Life is banned. Skills are a requirement.
  • The use of HP/SP recovery items is banned during battle. They can however be used in dungeons. Battle-only items such as Weird Takoyaki and Muscle Drink can be used in battle.
  • All HP/SP recovery items have had their effects greatly reduced.
  • Edited the powers of Yukari, Yuko, and Fuuka's Christmas gifts. They are now the same as Mitsuru's. Chihiro's item is an accessory as per the vanilla game.
  • The cost of all healing items has been doubled.
  • Weird Takoyaki's price has been increased.
  • The cost of all healing skills has been greatly increased.
  • Akihiko's moveset is greatly expanded to put him on par with the rest of the team.
  • Koromaru can no longer use the skill Debilitate. (Given to Akihiko)
  • Ken will now learn the skill Endure.
  • Physical skill powers have been greatly decreased.
  • Physical skill costs have been moderately increased.
  • Physical crit rates have been greatly decreased.
  • Junpei's Hack 'n' Blast Theurgy has had its power moderately decreased.
  • All Physical Theurgies have had their critical rates drastically decreased.
  • Fuuka's Oracle has had its SP Recovery drastically decreased.
  • Several magical skills have had their power and costs adjusted. Dyne skill power is greatly increased to match the original Persona 3.
  • All DLC Personas have had their exclusive moves removed. They can safely be fused in legitimate gameplay.
  • Accuracy can now go as low as 0% and as high as 100%.
  • It is now possible to guarantee ailment hits if optimal conditions are met.
  • It is now possible to guarantee escape in optimal conditions.
  • Charge and Concentrate effects have been reduced.
  • Ailment recovery rates are now the same for the player and the enemy.
  • Poison damage has been reduced. The damage cap for Poison has been drastically reduced.
  • Major Arcana cards are now guaranteed to appear in Shuffle Time.
  • Level scaling has been entirely removed from the game to allow intelligent low level strategies. Damage is determined by stats, and stats are gained through levels and equipment.
  • XP from enemies at a level lower than the Player has been drastically reduced. At 4 levels or higher, 0 XP is awarded.
  • Shadows in the areas of Tartarus only accessible on 1/31 have had their level increased.
  • Enemy damage has been increased by approx. 10% in Merciless, Hard and Normal.
  • Player damage has been decreased by approx. 10% in Merciless, Hard and Normal.
  • The bonus damage from hitting weaknesses and criticals in Merciless has been removed from the player.
  • The bonus damage from hitting weaknesses and criticals in Merciless has been increased for the enemy. Added to Hard as well.
  • The enemy is now more likely to hit ailments on the player on Merciless and Hard.
  • The player's artificial ailment rate reduction on Merciless has been removed.
  • The party's Theurgy gauge is fully depleted at the start of all Bosses, Gatekeepers, and Monad Gatekeepers.
  • Skill Card Duplication has been removed.
  • Base Material Duplication has been added to the Inari Shrine.
  • All URLs related to the Ambush mechanic are no longer available for sale.
  • The cost of certain Antique Store consumables has been greatly increased.
  • Bead Chain EX has been removed from the Antique Store.
  • Snuff Soul and Chewing Soul have been removed from the Antique Store.
  • Regenerate, Invigorate, and Life Aid have been removed from the Antique Store.
  • The Omnipotent Orb has had its effect changed.
  • Several weapons for all party members have had their affinity changed to match their physical appearance.
  • The stats of a few weapons have been altered for the sake of build customization.

Important Info

  • You should play Master Quest on a new save file, due to the great amount of changes implemented. If you start halfway through, there is a chance you might break the challenge.
  • All difficulties are supported, but the mod was designed and tested under Merciless. Please consider using that difficulty mode. It is supported, but please avoid using Safety or Easy mode.
  • Please place Master Quest at the bottom of your load order, giving it the highest priority.

Incompatibilities

  • AI Tactics Fixes: Included in Master Quest, as it's needed to prevent them from using Revival items.
  • DLC Rework: Custom version Included in Master Quest, as it removes all exclusive skills, which the base mod does not do.
  • Any mod which affects the balance of the game should be considered innately incompatible with Master Quest, as it might affect the challenge's balance.
