Virtual Pro Wrestling Salvo is the second attempted ROM hack of WCW/nWo Revenge, created by RagDas.
Unlike WCW/nWo REVENJI, Salvo remains in English, and while there are commonalities, Salvo takes everything REVENJI did and pushes it farther than ever before:
New characters and the stables you can find them in are as follows:
Some bugs to be aware of: 1) It has been reported that playing as Cactus Jack will sometimes cause a white freeze frame to appear before entrances, effectively locking the game; this does not appear to happen in every match with Cactus, and it is currently not known what causes the issue. RagDas recommends not running through championship mode with Cactus Jack on this basis. 2) Renaming people will sometimes cause other characters to be renamed and recostumed (e.g. renaming Stone Cold will affect Lex Luger). To rectify this, simply defaulting the affected character across P1-P4 costumes will result in their being normal again, without undoing your name change to the intended character.
This hack would not be possible without freem, who provided the foundation via documentation, as well as the means to modify the AKI games: VPW Studio. It would also not be possible without Melonbread, who served as a research partner and is responsible for the discovery of Running Grapples (read: Running SPECIAL Grapples) in Revenge. A special thanks to SK Stylez as well, as the lessons in hacking Revenge from the REVENJI days continued to be relevant in the development of VPW Salvo.
