Six years have passed since Sauge last visited Cigalo, a once-thriving planet now turned desert due to overuse. Unexpectedly, she finds herself heading there after picking up a distress call from her missing sister Garance's spaceship. Thus begins Sauge's journey across a familiar yet changed world, searching for her sister and reconnecting with her past.



Caravan SandWitch impresses with its portrayal of Cigalo, a sad but captivating planet in decline. The remnants of a once-bustling world, scattered communities, and vast dry deserts silently tell of past mistakes. Yet, hope lives on as the remaining inhabitants help each other survive. The game's themes of community and survival are embodied by a diverse cast, from Sauge's old friends to abandoned robots.

The game's unique style blends sci-fi elements with rustic charm, adding a fresh touch to Cigalo. Calming music matches the game's relaxed pace, which is also reflected in the slow-paced storytelling and character growth.



Caravan SandWitch's gameplay centers on exploration and simple puzzle-solving. Sauge can move across the semi-open world map on foot or in her van. The van gets upgrades as the story unfolds, allowing Sauge to reach new areas.

The smooth van controls make driving enjoyable while taking in Cigalo's scenery. These road trips are a highlight of the game. However, some backtracking is needed after getting new equipment, which can feel tedious and clashes with the game's otherwise relaxed nature. It might have been better to give Sauge all her equipment upfront for freer exploration.

The game's puzzles aren't very challenging but add some variety. Whether Sauge is disabling signal jammers or exploring underground areas, the puzzles are simple and add to the game's sense of discovery.

Beyond the main storyline, Sauge can engage in various side activities. These range from resource collection to assisting locals with their personal tasks. This community-focused aspect enhances the game by bringing NPCs to life as they join Sauge on road trips and side quests. These details make the game world feel more vibrant and are among the most captivating elements of Caravan SandWitch.



Caravan SandWitch distinguishes itself with a unique, lived-in world that encourages stress-free exploration. The sense of community fostered by helping Cigalo's inhabitants is rewarding, but the predictable "fetch quest" nature and occasional need to backtrack can lead to repetition. While the leisurely pace of the plot and gameplay contributes to the cozy atmosphere, it sometimes diminishes the sense of urgency, even when present in the background.

Despite these drawbacks, Caravan SandWitch offers a compelling experience for exploration game enthusiasts. Cigalo's intriguing mysteries and fascinating inhabitants make the journey worthwhile, even if it's not always smooth sailing.
