Hardware Ducky Zero 6108 Classic Black Wireless Mechanical Keyboard review

The new Ducky Zero 6108 Classic Mechanical keyboard brings all the quality you'd expect from the Ducky brand of PC accessories, only this time it's been let free from cable restraints and is the brand's first wireless keyboard.

The Ducky Zero 6108 Wireless Keyboard is made with sturdy materials and you can feel its quality and weight straight out of the box. The keyboard weighs a not-to-heavy 1.2kg with full-size dimensions of 435x135x40mm. While some may prefer a lighter keyboard, I appreciate the prospect that if I somehow dropped it on the floor, it wouldn't crack or shatter into broken pieces.

Even with the tool provided in the box used to remove the keys for rearranging or cleaning, it does take a small amount of force to remove them. So you need not worry about losing displaced keys anytime soon. What's more, the keys are also supported by socket dome lubrication and spring-centering stem which can apparently achieve over 100 million clicks without losing quality. I was unable to test the 100 million clicks theory for my review because I don't want to die of old age before GTA VI is released.

Speaking of GTA VI and gaming in general, this keyboard boasts a distance of 3.4mm with no click, so if you're gaming on a PC, you should get that ever-so-slight advantage with the fast keys. It comes in handy for working life too, as it helps you type that little bit quicker and the therapeutic sound of the keys clicking is always a delight for our ears.

Then on top of this keyboard being made out of the good stuff, it looks super snazzy too with its sleek black design and illumination with its various RGB lighting profiles. You can flick through all the profiles by pressing Fn and F11. You can even adjust the flash speed of the lights as well as adjust the brightness to what you desire.

Now let's get to the best selling point of this keyboard, the wireless feature. The wireless works with both Bluetooth and 2.4GHz via a tiny USB dongle provided that you plug into the USB port of your laptop or PC. From what I could tell, the wireless mode is just as responsive as the wired mode, which is great. As for how long the 2500mAh rechargeable battery lasts, that can all depend on whether you have the lights flashing or not. One of the best features of this keyboard is the variety of light shows to choose from, so I wouldn't deprive myself of that delight by going with the bland black.

However, I can comfortably get a day's work out of the keyboard until it needs recharging and when that time comes, just plug in the USB-C cable to your laptop or PC and carry on as you were. When connected, it will charge as you type. You can also keep track of the wireless battery life by holding in Fn and Alt, and the percentage will be represented by the keys one to nine on the keyboard.

Before now, the Ducky One 3 Classic was my favorite keyboard and it would still be if it wasn't for the Ducky Zero 6108 wireless model. However, with this model that I'm currently reviewing, I get the same level of quality but with the added option of using it wirelessly and keeping my small desk area at home more tidy. Plus, at the time of writing, on the Overclockers website, the Ducky Zero 6108 is £30 cheaper than the wired Ducky One 3 Classic. So not only is it a no-brainer for the price but the Ducky Zero 6108 could be the best keyboard that you'll purchase today.
