That latter item comes in Race A, where we see Sardegna Windmills showing up in the rotation for the first time in a good long while. It's a relatively straight up-and-down course, with two faster sections running almost parallel to one another and then some tricky corners at each end.
Whereas we often see Race A being a road car race — and the recently added Jimny Sierra and its kei sibling would seem ideal — this event features the high-powered Gr.B category cars. You can select any vehicle from the class that you'd like for the six-lap race, and Dirt tires are of course required.
There are two further points to note for this race. Firstly, the "false start check" is enabled on the grid. That'll require you to stand on the brake (or activate the handbrake) from the point that the final start light illuminates and until they all go off to begin the race. Any movement in this period gives you an on-the-spot power-loss penalty for a short period, and potentially becoming the focal point for a big crash.
Additionally Driver Rating (DR) updates remain turned off but Sportsmanship Rating (SR) updates are still active. You won't gain or lose DR, no matter what, but the close-quarters racing on a loose surface could well play havoc with your SR — so take care.
Race B has quite a bit more than usual going on this week, as the car/track combinations for B and C almost appear swapped.
It's an eight-lap race at High Speed Ring — a track that doesn't often see much Sport Mode action — using the fastest car category in the game. You can select any Gr.1 car you like, from the classic Group Cs through the LMP1s and even the futuristic Vision GTs, with Racing Medium tires required.
These cars make quite quick work of this track, so it'll only be a seven-minute race, but the event is also notable for additional settings options. As well as the limited ability to tune some suspension and differential parameters, you can also adjust downforce for this race. You'll need to be quick on the draw setting your car up before the race, as setups for Daily Races still cannot be saved.
For Race C you'll be going over to the Circuit de la Sarthe — now called the 24 Heures du Mans Racing Circuit in GT7 — for a five-lap race in Gr.3 cars on the "No Chicane" variant. See what we mean about it looking swapped?
You can pick any Gr.3 car for the race, so long as it's on Racing Soft tires, and you're going to want something not only independently fast in a straight line but which can benefit from the slipstream effect. Expect lots of Ford GT GTEs…
There's a small tactical element here too, with a mandatory pit stop which will require you to take a trip down the pit lane anywhere between the end of lap one and the start of lap five. Failing to make the stop will earn you a one-minute penalty after the race, and you don't need to pick up fuel or new tires to satisfy the requirement.
That said, with the 4x tire wear multiplier on the Softs and a relatively long pit lane, you might want to swap your tires anyway. There's a possibility of doing the whole race on one set, but the time lost on the final lap is likely going to more than offset the couple of seconds in the stop to swap them. You only really need to choose between stopping at the end of lap two or lap three.
Daily Races are the main ranked multiplayer events in GT7. Your Driver Rating (DR) and Sportsmanship Rating (SR) are determined by your performances, updating after each race, and these are used to set your ranking and league for the game's flagship esports series each season.
In order to access the Daily Races, you'll need to unlock Sport Mode, by completing Menu Book 9 ("Championship: Tokyo Highway Parade") in the GT Cafe single player hub. A PlayStation Plus subscription is required to take part.
