The hero shooter has a shot at becoming one of the biggest games on the planet, with its familiar characters pairing with a well-established gameplay formula.
While the industry has not been kind to Overwatch clones of late, this outing will feature a roster of 33 familiar faces at launch, with some seriously on-point art direction. It'll also be free-to-play, so it costs nothing to give it a go.
We had mixed feelings about the beta at Push Square Towers; some of us loved it, others were less keen. But the developer has had almost six months to listen to feedback, polish the experience, and balance the gameplay since then – we're confident about the end results.
Of course, with a new season of Fortnite imminent and other live service games maintaining their appeal, this is a really difficult sector to break into. But we have a sneaking suspicion the superheroes of Marvel Rivals will give it the chops to stand out in a crowded category – this is going to be big.
