One of the most popular modes in the Call of Duty series has been its chaotic multiplayer Zombies which makes its return in Black Ops 6.
The Zombies mode made its debut in 2009 with Call of Duty: World at War and since that time, it has gotten bigger and arguably better with each new iteration. Now, we've had our first look at the Zombies mode in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 with its first cinematic trailer dropping - and it looks like it's going to be a cracker.
"Developed by Treyarch and Raven, Black Ops 6 is a spy action thriller set in the early 90s, a period of transition and upheaval in global politics, characterised by the end of the Cold War and the rise of the United States as a single superpower. With a mind-bending narrative, and unbound by the rules of engagement, this is signature Black Ops," reads the description of the game.
It's been a hot day for Call of Duty-related news with 20 of the Black Ops 6 multiplayer maps reportedly leaking online with Activision struggling to get a hold of it all. So perhaps the sudden reveal of the Zombies mode is a tactic to get ahead before even more leaks start making the rounds.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be the first new game in the series since Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard and will be included in Xbox Game Pass, making it practically free to millions of gamers.
Before Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 arrives, it will be getting a multiplayer beta across all available platforms with early access from 30 August to 4 September. Then it will be open to all from 6 September to 9 September 2024.
The modes to feature in the beta have not been announced by Activision at the time of writing, but it's unlikely to include the Zombies mode. We'll keep you posted when Activision drops further details on the upcoming beta in the next couple of weeks or so.
The first gameplay for the new Zombies mode will drop on 8 August, so we'll keep you posted when that arrives. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be released on PC, PlayStation and Xbox on 25 October 2024.
