A brand-new set of Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races is available from today, with some rarely seen circuits popping up for your ranked multiplayer enjoyment.

The events are reverting to a more regular format this week after the flirtation with tuning last time out, and you'll find a one-make race in the Race A slot, a Gr.4 event in the Race B slot, and a Gr.3 outing in the Race C slot.

It's the Honda Civic Touring Car up in that first one, with the stripped back EK-generation Civic required for this city break. You'll need Sports Medium tires (despite the "touring car" name; no race tires here) for this five-lap blast around Tokyo Expressway's Central Clockwise course.

There's a couple of points you'll need to heed in the regulations here too. Firstly, there's no DR updates for the race, as usual. This means that, regardless of results, you won't see any changes to your Driver Rating (DR).

Additionally, you should keep the False Start Check in mind. This penalizes you for any movement on the grid — between the time of the final start light illuminating and all of the lights going off to start the race — with a short loss of engine power. Best-case scenario is a chunk of time lost; worst-case you're the scene of a large accident.

For Race B you'll be taking your choice of Gr.4 car to the High Speed Ring course for a six-lap event. It's very rare to see this Gran Turismo staple — part of the game since the first one in 1997 — in GT7's Sport Mode, and you may want to head to the Circuit Experience to refamiliarize yourself with the best lines to take…

It seems to be that the Bugatti Veyron Gr.4 is highly favored for this event — with 97 of the top 100 qualifying times and all of the top 50 at time of writing — but whichever car you choose it'll need to be on Racing Medium tires for the event.

Finally there's Race C which heads to the Deep Forest location, also a track that made its debut in the first GT if in a different form, for a 12-lap run in Gr.3 cars.

There's the rare opportunity to run with Racing Soft tires in this race, as the only tires available, and combined with a 5x tire wear multiplier — wearing the tires five times faster than standard — it's going be very difficult to avoid making a tactical pit stop at some point in the race.

That does render the mandatory stop somewhat moot, really. Even if you can somehow stretch the softs to the equivalent of 60 laps, you will need to take a trip down the pit lane anyway — whether taking on fuel and tires or not — or you'll end up being hit with a one-minute penalty at the end of the race. You may as well get the new tires rather than losing time sliding about on the last couple of laps.

In order to access the Daily Races, you'll need to unlock Sport Mode, by completing Menu Book 9 ("Championship: Tokyo Highway Parade") in the GT Cafe single player hub. A PlayStation Plus subscription is required to take part.

With GT7's Daily Races updating every Monday across the game's life to date, the next new set should arrive on Monday, July 22.
