Along with all the other things players can look forward to in Gran Turismo 7 this week, there's a new set of Daily Races available now and taking in three of the game's real-world courses.

These ranked multiplayer events, running every 20 minutes (every 30 minutes for Race C) over the next week, take in all three continents this week and use the regular format of a one-make event in Race A, and Gr.3/4 races in the other two — though this week it's the turn of the slower Gr.4s in the longer, endurance slot.

Race A's car choice is one of the more exciting vehicles in production today, as we see the Toyota GR Yaris hot hatch selected for the event. This pocket rocket was created as a homologation special for Toyota's World Rally Championship ambitions, with a specially designed body built to Gazoo Racing's specifications after years of campaigning the regular, five-door Yaris hatchback.

You'll not be heading off-road though, as the GR Yaris will be taking on a legendary time attack course in its event this week. That is, of course, the Tsukuba Circuit in Japan — well-known for this and the Best Motoring battles that were one of the inspirations behind the original Gran Turismo.

It's a relatively simple event, running for seven laps of the largely flat circuit and requiring that the cars are equipped with Sports Hard tires. You'll need to be aware of the False Start Check — which gives you a short, on-the-spot engine power penalty if you move between the final start light coming on and the race beginning. Hold the car on the brakes or handbrake to avoid this.

Finally, and as usual, there's no DR updates for the race. This means that, regardless of how well (or badly) you do, you won't see any changes to your Driver Rating (DR). Sportsmanship Rating (SR) is still affected though, so while you can race free from worry about where you end up there may be consequences for how you end up there.

Race B is the usual, uncomplicated sprint affair. Grab an appropriate car, go racing, and lather, rinse, repeat without concerning yourself over the details.

This week it's a five-lap sprint of the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps course in the Gr.3 cars — pretty much a staple of modern motorsport in these GT3-like vehicles. It's the regular Spa too, rather than the 24h layout with the relocated start line.

The long, full-throttle sections of Spa may well mean that what works for a qualifying hot lap (in this case the Renault Sport RS01 GT3) may not do quite so well in the races courtesy of the slipstream effects, but whichever car you select will need to be on Racing Hard tires.

Finally in Race C we continue our westward traipse around the globe to end on the east side of the USA and Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, for a 13-lap, endurance-format event.

You can pick any of the Gr.4 cars you want for this race — and there's quite a mix on the leaderboards despite the category usually spitting out one or two more highly favored vehicles due to the variety of drivetrain types.

A mandatory pit stop is in effect for the race too, which means you'll need to head down the track's very awkward pit road (we foresee a lot of 3s penalties for crossing the entry lines) at least once during the race.

It's not necessary to pick up fresh tires or more fuel — and indeed you won't need to either — but you do need to take the trip any time between the end of lap one and the start of lap 13 or you'll face a one-minute penalty to your race time.

You won't need tires because the tire wear multiplier is set at just 3x, or triple the standard rate of wear. With Racing Mediums required this week, you'll barely notice the wear over the 13 laps even when the new physics come into play when the update lands this coming Thursday.

In order to access the Daily Races, you'll need to unlock Sport Mode, by completing Menu Book 9 ("Championship: Tokyo Highway Parade") in the GT Cafe single player hub. A PlayStation Plus subscription is required to take part.

With GT7's Daily Races updating every Monday across the game's life to date, the next new set should arrive on Monday, July 29.
