Halo Infinite is introducing a new SMG-class weapon called the MA5K Avenger on November 5, 2024, as part of the Operation: Great Journey update. This fully automatic rifle is inspired by the weapon featured in the "Halo: Ghosts of Onyx" novel.
You can see it in action in the video below (via 'Rebs Gaming' on social media):
Key features of the MA5K Avenger include:
- High rate of fire
- Increased magazine size
- Quick reload speeds
- Fast ready-up time after sprinting
- Designed for close-quarters combat
The MA5K Avenger will be available in several game modes:
1. It will be the starting weapon in the new Halo 2-inspired Delta Arena playlist.
2. It will serve as a secondary weapon in many Firefight experiences.
3. It will appear on SMG-class weapon racks throughout the game.
This new addition expands Halo Infinite's arsenal, joining the Bandit Rifle as only the second new weapon added since the game's launch in 2021. The developers at Halo Studios (formerly 343 Industries) have tuned the MA5K Avenger to fit naturally into the SMG role, drawing inspiration from SMGs in previous Halo titles while establishing its own unique identity.
The Operation: Great Journey update, launching on November 5, will also include other features such as a Halo 2-inspired playlist with legacy movement mechanics, Third-Person Firefight mode, and new Forge features.
