Honkai: Star Rail has been spinning its wheels for several updates now, but we're finally on the home straight before major single player update Amphoreus arrives.
Fans of the game will know the Nameless selected the planet as its next Trailblazing expedition earlier in the year, and here's our very first look at the all-new map, courtesy of the latest Special Program.
There'll be plenty to get on with in the meantime, as v2.7 – due out on 4th December – will pick up the main storyline and lead directly into v3.0, expected early next year. The story will focus on Sunday and Fugue, a new version of Tingyun, who will both headline the 5-Star banners in this update. They'll be flanked by reruns of Jing Yuan and Firefly in the first and second halves respectively.
In addition to the new storyline, which takes place back on Penacony, a new event will focus on the Astral Express itself, as access to the Party Car and the Trailblazer's bedroom will open up. You'll be able to complete housekeeping quests to unlock furniture, which you can use to decorate your personal space.
Looking forward, v3.0 will introduce the path of Remembrance, featuring characters who can summon "memosprites". The press release teases: "Each memosprite will offer distinct abilities in battle, joining allies on this Path and enhancing strategic depth in every encounter."
There are also big quality of life improvements coming. Soon, you'll be able to use a new resource similar to Self-Modelling Resin to determine the sub-stats for a Relic, and you'll be able to reassign sub-stats, too. That means, no more being forced to settle for DEF%+4, as you'll be able to reattribute to Break Effect, SPD, or CRIT – whatever you want.
And one extra detail: beginning v2.7 through v3.2, you'll be able to use the Gift of the Express to get a free standard 5-Star character. Who will you be claiming? We think we're going to buff our Himeko a little more, just because she's so hot.
