There are two types of mods when it comes to playing using Xenia.
Ideally you have already set up Sonic Unleashed, if not then do so here -> link!
Back up your Xenia content 00000000/000B0000 & 00000002 folders before you do this as most DLC mods overwrite the base content.
The type of mods for DLC and how to install them.
Functionally there is no difference between the mods using Packed files and Loose files, it is just the install method that differs.
Additionally, the order you install DLC mods in is what dictates priority, the first mods you install will be overwritten by the next, and the next and so on, so the highest priority should be installed last.
Lastly, DLC mods normally overwrite conflicting files in the base game, if a base game mod is not working, it could be due to either the DLC by itself or a DLC mod you have installed.
To revert your DLC and Title Update to their base versions, just delete the 000B0000 / 00000000 & 00000002 folders then copy your backup into the same location, or completely reinstall the DLC.
Packed mods:
Packed mods are easier to install but far less common, only I (StarlightDX) have really packed DLC mods.Let's use the Character Swapping Framework as an example, you will see that here you have a bunch of files with no format using certain names, well once you have found your folder containing these files, we will move on to the next step:
Before that however, some mods may also contain files such as this:
These files install the same way as the ones above!
Next step, open Xenia Canary then navigate to file, then select Install Content.
Navigate to the folder with your DLC mod files in then highlight all of them and click open.
Done!
Loose mods:
Loose mods are a lot more common and take a bit more effort to install, but that is what this guide is for!How to install Update folders:
Let's use any mod as an example for this, so here I have my DLC mod folder and it contains update files, these aren't updates for the mod files, these overwrite the games title update.
These may not exist in the mod you are installing, if so then that is normal and you can skip this part. If they do, please read on.
In your mod folder you may see folders named as such.
Simply copy these folders then navigate to your Xenia content folder.
Your Xenia content folder should already look like this, Xenia -> content -> 53450812 -> 00000000 or 000B0000.
Just paste what you copied here, and if asked to overwrite files, press accept.
How to install DLC folders:
Let's again use any mod as an example for this, so here I have my DLC mod folder and it contains loose versions of the files you may have seen in the packed guide:
What you want to do next is copy the folders with these names and navigate to your Xenia content folder.
Your Xenia content folder should already look like this, Xenia -> content -> 53450812 -> 00000002.
Just paste what you copied here, and if asked to overwrite files, press accept.
Done!
