Famed game creator Masahiro Sakurai shared some helpful tips (adding to his wealth of knowledge shared over the past couple years) after seeing a cosplayer struggle with an awkward issue in their impressive Link outfit.
The costume, copying Link's look from Zelda: Breath of the Wild, closely matches the original design. But @sakigake_cos's dedication to accuracy led to trouble pulling out the Master Sword. We've all been there, friend.
"In Smash Bros. Ultimate, Link lowers the scabbard when sheathing his sword. This alone wasn't perfect, but it was the best we could do to copy the original game's action and gear while being clever about it."
Sakurai reshared the video and noted that Link's animation in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate includes slightly lowering the sword's scabbard to make room for sheathing. He said this wasn't ideal, but was as close as they could get to copying the original game's movement and equipment.
@sakigake_cos replied to Sakurai, saying thanks for the tip and "I'll also look at Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and try to make it look cool next time."
Wow, even while working on a new game, Sakurai still takes time to give Nintendo fans some much-needed advice. What a great guy!
