There aren't enough adjectives that I could add to the word "excited" to describe my level of anticipation for Lost Records: Bloom & Rage. Lost Records is a new IP for Don't Nod, and Bloom & Rage is the first game. It brings Don't Nod back to its narrative adventure roots – the studio is best known for Life is Strange, though that series is now owned by Square Enix who have decided to have Deck Nine continue the franchise. Lost Records: Bloom & Rage was announced with a teaser last December. In April, a '90s-style trailer introduced the world to the game's four main characters. It was originally set to launch in two parts (Tape 1 and Tape 2) late this year, but the studio decided to delay it to avoid direct competition with Life is Strange: Double Exposure. Today, the Don't Nod announced that Lost Records: Bloom & Rage's two parts (or Tapes) would launch a month apart early next year, beginning in February. A new First Look Gameplay trailer shows off how the game will function, including dialogue choices.

Lost Records: Bloom & Rage follows four friends in the fictional town of Velvet Cove, Michigan. It is set in two time periods, the 1995 and 2022 years later. During the summer of '95, Swann, Nora, Autumn, and Kat spend the summer before college hanging out and forming a band. But something happens that causes them to stop speaking for 27 years, when they have to reunite to confront the dark secrets of that last time together.

Swann is the main playable character, who records everything on her camcorder. Nora is rebellious and eccentric. Autumn is the charismatic and thoughtful leader of the group. Kat is strong-willed and pragmatic.

Today's First Look Gameplay trailer is the first look at the gameplay in Lost Records: Bloom & Rage, including the dual timeline navigation and using Swann's camcorder. Use a new dynamic dialogue system to make choices. It changes based on where you are looking and what you say. You can even choose to ignore or interrupt other characters. The elements are meant to make conversations feel more real and make choices feel more important than in past Don't Nod titles.

Developed and published by Don't Nod, Lost Records: Bloom & Rage will be released digitally for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series. Tape 1 will launch on February 18, 2025. Tape 2 will launch on March 18, 2025. Don't Nod is partnering with Maximum Entertainment for a physical PlayStation 5 version, though no release date has been announced.
