Fans won't be left without any alternatives at all, though: Nintendo are apparently developing a paid version of Pocket Camp for future release (again on smart devices) that will not require constant connection to the internet and will contain no in-app purchases.
Additionally, users will apparently be able to carry over their data from the current version of the app to this new version via linking their Nintendo Account. More information about this future version of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp will be shared in October.
