Over the past year, there's been much concern about PlayStation's profits. This got mixed up with Xbox's problems, leading to many articles about the console market's health.

But Sony has largely fixed the issue. Its latest earnings report, which confirmed PS5 has shipped 65.5 million units, showed a huge 184% year-over-year increase in operating profit.

For the three months ending September 30th, PlayStation made ¥138.8 billion ($909 million) in profits. This is a massive jump from the slim ¥48.9 billion ($320 million) last year. It's also more than double the ¥65.2 billion (~$427 million) from the previous quarter.

This success has led Sony to raise its profit forecast for the current fiscal year from ¥320 billion ($2 billion) to ¥355 billion ($2.3 billion).
