Sony's released a new PS5 promo montage, which will presumably run on television and in YouTube ad reels over the coming months. The video simply declares "it's time to play", and includes footage of a variety of tentpole titles, including Marvel's Spider-Man 2, Astro Bot, God of War Ragnarok, Hogwarts Legacy, Helldivers 2, Tekken 8, Stellar Blade, and more.
It's going to be interesting to see how the Japanese giant markets PlayStation this holiday; usually it centers all of its promotions around Call of Duty, but since Xbox's acquisition of Activision Blizzard, it no longer has advertising rights to the first-person shooter. Instead it's going to need to rely on its own selection of software, as glimpsed in the trailer above.
We suspect some will argue this trailer shows how weak the PS5 generation has been thus far, but to be fair, there are some damn good games here. We suppose what's hurting PlayStation at the moment is its reluctance to show what's coming next, with very few high profile first-party exclusives currently revealed.
