Who doesn't love a freebie? Steam is currently offering you the chance to play a variety of bangers at no additional cost.

So without further delay let's jump into some of the latest Steam demos you can play right now, a full list of which you can find on the official store page.

The first one we're going to look at is a bizarre one, I'll give you that, it's American Truck Simulator, which is actually a great choice for fans of in-depth simulation games, or those who like a chilled-out gaming experience.

It's got plenty to do, and you can play it at your own pace with several different control schemes.

Next is Castle Crashers, a fantastic beat-em-up style adventure with loads of different characters to play as, and you can play the whole thing with friends. It also runs exceptionally well on Steam Deck too if you have one of those.

Moving on to Sid Meier's Civilization VI, a world-building game that's getting a sequel in the next few years, though for now you can enjoy the most recent instalment for free to see if it's your cup of tea.

You'll build an empire, and go head-to-head with some of history's most famous leaders, what could be better

Then we've got Renown, an open-world survival game but with a twist, it's set during the dark ages.

You start out with nothing before scavenging the land for materials, eventually building your way up to owning your very own fortress, which you might have to defend from other players.

Finally we've got HITMAN World of Assassination, a quick glance into the world of Agent 47 and his mission to kill a variety of important people in the silliest ways imaginable. This demo should give you a taste of what you can achieve in the final game, which recently added MMA fighter Connor McGregor as a target.

So there you have it, five demos you can try right now for free, though if they don't sound like what you're looking for I'd urge you to check out the full list.
