Fireproof Games, the studio behind the acclaimed puzzle-adventure series The Room, has announced their latest title: Ghost Town. This spooky, single-player VR puzzle-adventure is set to release in 2025 for various platforms including Meta Quest 2/3, PSVR2, and PC VR via Steam.
Ghost Town takes place in London during 1983 and follows the story of Edith Penrose, a paranormal detective. The game's narrative begins when Edith's brother goes missing, leading her on a mysterious journey that starts on a remote Scottish island in search of a gifted clairvoyant.
Key features of Ghost Town include:
1. Immersive VR gameplay with a controller in each hand and a torch to light your way
2. Large, navigable environments to explore
3. Tactile puzzles that make use of VR's hand-tracking capabilities
4. Spellcasting mechanics
5. Ability to summon and interact with spirits
6. Fully motion-captured characters, both living and dead
7. Atmospheric locations with a focus on creating a spooky ambiance
The game is scheduled for an initial release on Meta Quest 2/3 in spring 2025, followed by PSVR2 and Steam VR versions in the summer of the same year.
Ghost Town marks Fireproof Games' return to VR after their successful 2020 release, The Room VR: A Dark Matter. Given the studio's track record with The Room series and their previous VR title, expectations are high for this new supernatural puzzle adventure.
