First released for Nintendo's hybrid platform and PC back in May, the game garnered a very strong critical reception, currently sitting on a Metacritic rating of 88. In it, you explore a mysterious mansion packed full of strange and vague puzzles to solve. It's a lot like classic Resident Evil, except without the combat, enemies, and scares (mostly). You'll crack brain teasers to progress and work out what's really going on in the story.
Awarding a 10/10 score, Inverse said: "Even if its dream is often a nightmare, Lorelei and the Laser Eyes is one of the most compelling games I've played in years. As a puzzle game, it's already a triumph, but the meditations on art and bold aesthetic choices elevate it to the level of a magnum opus as grand as the artwork at the heart of its story."
GameSpot agreed in a 9/10 verdict: "Lorelei and the Laser Eyes is a massive achievement in using the games as a medium and an art form to tell a story that can only be experienced in a video game. Over the course of my time with it, I was surprised and astounded at Simogo's ability to subvert my expectations to convey a story that touches on art and technology, and the magical illusion of storytelling, all while using the foundation of puzzle design to not just arm me with knowledge, but use it to find the truth."
