A new Assassin's Creed Valhalla mod has added support for two highly requested features to the open-world title, though there's a large downside to be found with it.

The mod adds support for both AMD FSR 3.0 Frame Generation and AMD FSR 3.0 Super Resolution, and helps to improve performance on older CPUs. It also supports all GPUs, making it a lot easier to play newer games using the technology.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla, a huge open-world game and a title that saw the RPG elements of the franchise taken to their logical extreme, is a title that can greatly benefit from even the smallest performance boosts

So why is the mod controversial? Well, it's a paid release. There's a lot to break down here, but the important thing to note is that paid mods are an extremely dicey topic, with a lot of apprehension around them.

The reason is because there's a question of whether it's right to charge for access to something that a player has likely already purchased, and whether the modder is changing enough to justify the charge. It's also known that several mods, including a recent mod for Palworld that changed the in-game models to be those of actual Pokemon, that were paid have received attention from IP and license holders, leading to those mods being either shut down or just disappearing from the internet. So whether changing the Frame Generation tools used for Assassin's Creed Valhalla is actually worth your money is up to you, but there's also a chance that eventually it ends up released for free further down the line.

Assassin's Creed Shadows, the latest game in the franchise, received a full gameplay reveal earlier this week at a Ubisoft Forward, with the title showing off two different playable characters, both of which have very different playstyles.
