We've all been tempted to call in help when struggling with the most formidable bosses in any given Dark Souls title.

Now, courtesy of a recent comment by FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki, that could soon become an even easier prospect as a Dark Souls title including "beginning to end, total co-op" may be on the cards in the future.

If you didn't already know, the Dark Souls trilogy and more recent titles such as Elden Ring do in fact offer a multiplayer option. Players can call in friends to help with certain areas and bosses but they are then unceremoniously booted back to their own world when the boss is defeated or they die.

To combat this, modders have stepped in and created a mod allowing for seamless co-op play for the PC. Downloading this mod will allow you and four friends to explore the Lands Between without the limitations in place for the base Elden Ring title.

The group of five will be able to play from tutorial to the end together without being booted back to their respective worlds but Miyazaki hopes to bring this feature into future Dark Souls titles without the use of mods.

During an interview with PC Gamer, he said: "It's definitely not something we actively oppose or want to downplay, wanting to go through the whole game together."

"In terms of where we were with Elden Ring, it was simply a case of wanting that more loose, casual style — drop in, defeat a boss, drop out. It doesn't put any technical restrictions on the player, it just sort of lets them complete this focus and then move on, so to speak," he continued.

With over 3.7 million PC players downloading the seamless co-op mod, Miyazaki says the team won't be opposed to adding this feature officially.

"That's not to say we won't consider other ways, like you and your friend played, from beginning to end, total co-op — that's not to say we won't consider ideas like that with our future games."
