The Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered trailer showcases the updated boss encounters and new map/compass features coming to the remastered collection.
The trailer reveals the remastered versions of the five main bosses from the two games:
- Melchiah: Received a full texture overhaul with a darker, slimier appearance. His skeletal mapping is more realistic and gory.
- Zephon: His face has been completely repainted to be less desaturated.
- Rahab: His head has been remodeled with a reddish glow in the eyes and more vampiric fangs.
- Dumah: His armor is now dirtier with patches of mold and blood, reflecting his centuries-long impalement.
- Kain: The character models for Kain in both games have been completely redesigned to be more consistent with his appearance in the original FMVs.
In addition to the boss updates, the trailer also highlights the new map and compass system. These features are intended to provide a more player-friendly exploration experience, with the compass gently guiding players without giving away too many specifics. The map itself is an accurate, artfully-designed representation of the world of Nosgoth, and can be used to track the location of lore entries.
The Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered collection is set to release on December 12, 2024 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
