Stalker 2 is officially landing on Xbox Series X and S today, and we have a few performance options and Xbox settings worth going over here to get the best out of your experience.
First off, let's talk gameplay modes. On Xbox Series X we have a 30FPS Quality mode and a 60FPS Performance mode. Over on Xbox Series S we have just one 30FPS mode at launch, although that could change in the future as the developer further optimises the Series S version of Stalker 2.
We're playing primarily on Xbox Series X with Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) switched on, and combined with the game's Performance mode, this is the best way to experience Stalker 2 on Xbox right now. It's not a locked 60FPS (you get some major dips in busy areas), but VRR takes away most of the stutter and keeps the experience playable.
We've also been using the game's 'Medium' motion blur setting here to keep performance levels more stable, and so far, this has been our preferred way to play on Xbox Series X.
However, we must stress that if you don't have a VRR-enabled display, you will feel the frame rate drops — and accompanying stutter — a lot more in Stalker 2's Performance mode. We did some testing with this and still preferred non-VRR Performance mode over the 30FPS Quality mode on Series X, but if you want a more solid experience, Quality mode is a good option for those without VRR.
Of course, Xbox Series S users will have to stick to the 30FPS mode for now, and we'll bring you any more news on future Series S Performance mode updates if and when they arrive.
We hope this helps with your Stalker 2 experience on Xbox Series X and S!
