Gaming  PlayStation Plus Free Games For April 2024 Revealed

PlayStation has announced the next batch of free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers. April 2024's PS Plus Essential lineup includes the following three games: Immortals of Aveum, Minecraft Legends, and Skul: The Hero Slayer. All three games will be available to claim starting April 2. In the meantime, make sure you've added March's freebies to your account. Gaming  Sand Land Hands-On Gameplay Preview

It is impossible to talk about Sand Land without mentioning Akira Toriyama, who unexpectedly passed in early March. Although the game is only based on Toriyama's Sand Land manga series, his impact on the property, from the writing to the gorgeous art style, is apparent. Bandai Namco offered us hands on time with a few hours of Sand Land gameplay, which was set about 30 hours into the game's adventure. "Ganbare Goemon: Ooedo Daikaiten" ("Go for it! Goemon: The Grand Cycle of Oedo") is a single-player action platformer with light exploration elements and first-person mech battles. It was released at the start of 2001, the same year that would later see the release of "Goemon Shin Sedai Shuumei" ("Goemon: The Successor for a New Generation"). Battle.net is required to play Diablo IV on PC Game Pass

This Thursday, Microsoft will be fulfilling one of its key promises from when it acquired Activision-Blizzard by bringing Diablo IV to Game Pass. It looks like it'll have an extra, unexpected wrinkle, however: PC Game Pass players will be required to install Activision-Blizzard's installer, Battle.net. They'll also be required to have a Battle.net account and connect it to their Microsoft account before they can play. Ahead of the Thursday release, Microsoft released a short tutorial online to help guide users through the process, complete with a Diablo IV-style graphic that has every step explained in great detail. Anbernic announces RG35XX 2024 Edition retro handheld

Retro handheld manufacturer Anbernic is releasing a refreshed model of its RG35XX handheld line. This new model, named RG35XX 2024 Edition, features the same quad-core H700 chip that their RG35XX Plus packs but it does not have Bluetooth or WiFi support. It starts at $50 on the official AliExpress product page and has more colour variants. Developer Larian Studios will not be involved with future Baldur's Gate games

Speaking at GDC this weekend, Larian Studios founder and CEO Swen Vincke announced that not only would there be no major content expansions for Baldur's Gate 3, but Larian would not be producing any more Dungeons & Dragons games at all. "Baldur's Gate will always have a warm spot in our heart. We'll forever be proud of it, but we're not gonna continue in it," said Vincke. "We're gonna move on - we're gonna move away from D&D and start making a new thing." The news is a little surprising, given Baldur's Gate 3's enormous success. Pokemon fangame hosting website "Relic Castle" taken down by The Pokemon Company

Yet another casualty goes down in the never-ending battle of copyright enforcement, and this time, it hit a big website which was the host for many fangames based and inspired on Pokemon, called "Relic Castle". Nintendo Switch firmware 18.0.0 has been released

It's the first Nintendo Switch firmware update of 2024. Made available as of today is system software version 18.0.0, marking a new milestone. According to the patch notes, not much is brought to the table in this update, which features a new timer option for auto-sleep, and Korean as a supported language for the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls video. Under the hood, however, it looks there there's some substance, as it has broken support for Atmosphere. Final Fantasy IV introduced players to the "Active Time Battle" (ATB) system, an evolution of turn-based combat where player and enemy characters alike would get their chance to act after an amount of real time had passed, allowing for a more fluid turn order with a sense of urgency. Final Fantasy V refined the ATB system to a gold standard by adding visible ATB gauges for player characters to indicate progress towards their next turn, as well as removing delays for executing commands. Story-driven action-adventure game 'Dustborn' to launch in August

Today, Oslo-based studio Red Thread Games and publisher Quantic Dream have revealed the launch date for their upcoming narrative-driven action-adventure game Dustborn.
