It's been over ten years since the release of BioShock Infinite and in the time since, developer Ken Levine has been busy. Shortly following the release of the presumably last chapter in the BioShock saga, Levine and the team at Irrational Games began teasing a new game--one that would retain the narrative-driven, first-person gameplay the studio was known for but would experiment with new ideas and what Levine referred to as "narrative Legos." In 2017, the studio announced it was ready to formally usher in a new era, trading in its former name for a new one: Ghost Story Games. Then, at the 2022 Game Awards, the studio finally gave fans a first-look at its decade-long endeavor, Judas.

Developer Larian Studios will not be involved with future Baldur's Gate games

Speaking at GDC this weekend, Larian Studios founder and CEO Swen Vincke announced that not only would there be no major content expansions for Baldur's Gate 3, but Larian would not be producing any more Dungeons & Dragons games at all. "Baldur's Gate will always have a warm spot in our heart. We'll forever be proud of it, but we're not gonna continue in it," said Vincke. "We're gonna move on - we're gonna move away from D&D and start making a new thing." The news is a little surprising, given Baldur's Gate 3's enormous success. Pokemon fangame hosting website "Relic Castle" taken down by The Pokemon Company

Yet another casualty goes down in the never-ending battle of copyright enforcement, and this time, it hit a big website which was the host for many fangames based and inspired on Pokemon, called "Relic Castle". Nintendo Switch firmware 18.0.0 has been released

It's the first Nintendo Switch firmware update of 2024. Made available as of today is system software version 18.0.0, marking a new milestone. According to the patch notes, not much is brought to the table in this update, which features a new timer option for auto-sleep, and Korean as a supported language for the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls video. Under the hood, however, it looks there there's some substance, as it has broken support for Atmosphere. With the relatively recent releases of Assassin's Creed Mirage and Assassin's Creed Nexus, many fans may be curious as to when news regarding future games will come. Final Fantasy IV introduced players to the "Active Time Battle" (ATB) system, an evolution of turn-based combat where player and enemy characters alike would get their chance to act after an amount of real time had passed, allowing for a more fluid turn order with a sense of urgency. Final Fantasy V refined the ATB system to a gold standard by adding visible ATB gauges for player characters to indicate progress towards their next turn, as well as removing delays for executing commands. Story-driven action-adventure game 'Dustborn' to launch in August

Today, Oslo-based studio Red Thread Games and publisher Quantic Dream have revealed the launch date for their upcoming narrative-driven action-adventure game Dustborn. GitLab has taken down the Suyu Nintendo Switch emulator

Emulator takedowns continue. Not long after its first release, Suyu emulator has been removed from GitLab via a DMCA takedown. Suyu was a Nintendo Switch emulator forked from Yuzu emulator, which was the high-profile subject of a takedown by Nintendo last month. GitLab deleted Suyu's repository, stating that they'd received a takedown notice for the project. The tongue-in-cheek named emulator still has an official website up, though the Discord is not allowing new members, and the GitLab download page is gone. Disco-like RPG 'Broken Roads' to launch next month

Broken Roads is a post-apocalyptic RPG set in Australia that has strong Disco Elysium vibes from the art style to the gameplay. It was originally set to launch last November, but was pushed back to an undefined date. The 2nd biggest technology company in the world, Apple, is being sued by none other than the Department of Justice of the United States, filed for antitrust violations according to the lawsuit. The suit will be filed in a federal court in New Jersey, and according to people involved in the matter, the lawsuit could take place as soon as today, but it remains to be seen. Official Fallout-Themed Xbox Series X Comes With Its Own Vault

Microsoft has created another custom Xbox Series X, this time theming after Fallout in celebration of the upcoming Amazon show. Revealed in a post on X/Twitter, below, the console will be given away to one lucky fan who follows Xbox and retweets the post. The prize includes more than just the custom Xbox Series X, however, as it also bundles in a controller (which can actually be bought) and a custom vault to keep the hardware in. 'Alpha Protocol', Obsidian's espionage RPG, returns to PC with GOG launch

Alpha Protocol is an espionage RPG developed by Obsidian Entertainment that first launched 14 years ago. However, in 2019, the game was pulled from Steam due to music licensing issues. Since then, the game was not available digitally on PC; that is, until today, as GOG, Obsidian and SEGA have collaborated to bring the game back via GOG. This version is compatible with modern PCs, features licensed soundtrack and features performance improvements.
