If you have been in the gaming community for a while, you most likely have heard of the term "emulation", which can be best described as recreating or imitating, in this case, actual gaming hardware--consoles, computers, or handhelds--into other devices. During the 1990s, computers were reaching a technological standpoint in which it was becoming feasible to replicate the behaviour of early or older consoles and hardware, with one of the earliest emulators documented being a Famicom emulator having a timestamp of December 1990.
However, as it's always the case when it comes to emulation, it goes hand in hand with the legalities surrounding the scene, with many citing that it's just another instance to allow piracy of any given...

Exophase, the developer of the DraStic Nintendo DS emulator, has made a statement regarding the future of the emulator. DraStic has been a popular closed-source DS emulator on Android that has been available for many years. However, following the fallout from both Yuzu and Citra emulator's situations, Exophase has decided to take DraStic off of the Google Play Store. According to them, DraStic was already going to be pulled from the Google Play Store, regardless of current events, but that things made the issue, "more urgent".
Before the app gets delisted, Exophase has made DraStic free to download, when it had previously cost $4.99 to buy. They plan on eventually releasing the source code for the emulator as well. You can grab...
South Park has always been a cultural phenomenon, with its unique and humorously critical take on society's issues. Quietly following on the heels of the injunction ruling against Yuzu emulator that resulted in its removal and ceased development, popular Nintendo 3DS emulator Citra is following suit. Yuzu's parent company, Tropic Haze LLC, is also the owner of the development team for Citra 3DS emulator, and because of the recent ruling, Citra has also met the same fate. As of current writing, Citra has been removed from download on its official website, and the Citra GitHub repository has been taken down as well.
An official statement from Bunnei, a representative for both Citra and Yuzu, was posted on the Discord channel for Yuzu, saying that they never intended to allow piracy to impact Nintendo, and that playing games on "unauthorized hardware"...
Just last week, on Tuesday, February 26th, 2024, news broke out about the Yuzu emulator team being sued by none other than Nintendo themselves, with Nintendo claiming that the emulator apparently allowed users to play certain games early (due to street dates being broken) and also allowing piracy of the current Nintendo Switch system.
Today, in a rather surprisingly quick manner, it seems like Tropic Haze LLC., the company behind the Yuzu team, has reached a settlement with Nintendo in regards to the lawsuit. According to a recent official document uploaded just a few minutes ago
, Tropic Haze will pay up 2.4 million USD in favour to Nintendo, with both parties agreeing in the settlement and its amount.

After two incredibly busy months, March is a more subdued affair when it comes to new releases. That doesn't mean that there aren't some big games to get excited for, but in comparison to February and its main-event debuts--like the rare leap-year release of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on February 29--March provides some welcome breathing space.
Some of the highlights this month include WWE 2K24, a game that has been overshadowed by recent controversies at the home of powerslams and RKOs hailing from outta nowhere. This year's Wrestlemania Showcase looks like a fun trip down memory lane, and with Wrestlemania 40 looking to be one of the biggest live events in WWE history, it'll be fascinating to explore the matches responsible for defining...

The vast majority of Assassin's Creed games have had a unique logo influenced by history, and Assassin's Creed Red will probably be no different.
From intricate parkour systems to intuitive combat mechanics to an overarching narrative that technically spans tens of thousands of years, the Assassin's Creed series tackles a lot, and that's not even touching the series' varying historical settings. Usually changing with each new entry, Assassin's Creed has dabbled in a number of historical settings over the years, all of which give their respective game a unique feeling. Even when the Assassin's Creed formula has felt repetitive, the historical setting has helped to make each game stand out, and that upside will also be a boon for...
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is the second game in a proposed trilogy, which means that some gamers may be curious how the game ends.
By the end of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, developer Square Enix established that all bets are off with its re-do of the seminal JRPG. More specifically, they wanted to know how it would end and more specifically whether Aerith would die?

February has been a busy gaming month for me, in no small part due to me actually picking up a few to review for the first time since November. It's been pretty refreshing to get back into it and you should definitely keep an eye on the review section the coming days if you happen to have an interest in roguelike games in particular. Having said that, the games I've been playing for review were all towards the second half of the month, so there's still a good bit to talk about!
