First released back in 2020, it is safe to say that Cyberpunk 2077 released in somewhat of a questionable state. With multiple bugs, crashes and glitches attributed to the title, it wasn't long before Sony stepped in to offer refunds and even take the game down from Steam completely.
Now almost 4 years on and after multiple patches, a massive update and the arrival of its first and only DLC Phantom Liberty, Cyberpunk 2077 is in the best place it has ever been. So much so that the title recently hit an "overwhelmingly positive" rating on Steam for the first time since release.
Now praised for its exciting gameplay, epic story and mesmerizing setting, Cyberpunk 2077 is now considered as one of the best RPGs of all time and the CD Projekt Red team are over the moon with the game's turnaround.
This was seen on 10 May when associate game director for both Cyberpunk 2077 and the upcoming Cyberpunk 2, Paweł Sasko took to Twitter to share his thoughts.
"You can't imagine how much it means to me," he wrote, alongside a screenshot of the updated Steam rating. "I have never been close to giving up and always believed this could be somehow possible, but never thought I would actually see it.
Thank you so much for the second chance, chooms."
With many fans agreeing that Cyberpunk 2077 deserves its latest rating, it remains to be seen how CD Projekt Red will fare when Cyberpunk 2 is eventually released.
For now, it is heartwarming to see how its hard work and perseverance has paid off to finally make one of the best RPGs on the market.
