The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap celebrates its 20th anniversary today, having originally released in Japan on November 4, 2004 for the Game Boy Advance.

This unique entry in the Zelda series was developed by Capcom and Flagship, the third Zelda game they worked on after the Oracle games. The Minish Cap is known for its creative shrinking mechanic, where Link can shrink down to the size of the tiny Minish people, opening up new perspectives and puzzle-solving opportunities.

While not the best-selling Zelda game, The Minish Cap is widely regarded as one of the best 2D entries in the series. Its gorgeous pixel art, catchy soundtrack, and well-designed dungeons have earned it a devoted following over the past 20 years. Many Zelda fans consider it to be among the top 2D Zelda games, if not their outright favorite.

So here's to 20 years of this quirky and beloved Zelda adventure! The Minish Cap may have been overlooked by some at launch, but its legacy as a standout 2D Zelda experience has only grown stronger over time.
