Fallout 4 is the latest main series entry in the long-running, open world RPG, post-apocalyptic franchise. It was first released in 2015 and earned rave reviews from critics, though there were some criticisms aimed at the voiced protagonist and technical shortcomings. Bethesda supported Fallout 4 with regular updates and DLC expansions, giving fans good reason to stick with the game for the long haul.
Soon PC gamers will have a new way to experience Fallout 4, as it's been confirmed that the game is joining the Epic Games Store on April 25. Fallout 4's Epic Games Store debut will coincide with a big update that will add more PC-specific features, including widescreen and ultra-widescreen support, as well as fixes for lingering bugs. The update is admittedly more geared toward console players, especially those on PS5 and Xbox Series X, but the PC version of the game is getting some love as well.
Fallout 4 is Coming to the Epic Games Store on April 25
Perhaps more exciting than Fallout 4 being added to the Epic Games Store on April 25 is the potential for it to eventually become one of the store's free giveaways. Multiple Bethesda games have been given away for free through the Epic Games Store over the years, either as part of the launcher's weekly giveaways or through its mystery game promotions. In fact, fans have already been guaranteed free Fallout games for 2024.
Three classic Fallout games, the first two titles in the series plus Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel, were erroneously announced as Epic Games Store freebies earlier this year. They were pulled and replaced, and it was then clarified that the games would be made free to Epic Games Store users later in 2024 instead. It's unclear exactly when these classic Fallout games will become free on the Epic Games Store, but those that have been good about claiming all the EGS free games will already have them in their library.
All three of those Fallout games have been free on the Epic Games Store in the past. Not only that, but Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition has previously been free on the Epic Games Store, as has Fallout: New Vegas. Fallout 4 will not be a free game when it is added to the Epic Games Store on April 25, but who's to say it won't be a freebie sometime later this year or even in 2025.
