The latest set of Weekly Challenges is becoming available to players around the world, as midnight on Thursday evening ticks over in their time zone.

Weekly Challenges consist of a curated set of five events, mostly drawn from the existing events you'll find in World Circuits but with a now-regular Special Event dreamed up and only in existence for the week. There's bonus rewards for completing the events during the week they appear in the set — highlighted in green on the circuit menus.

For this week the Special Event star is the Volvo V40 once again. It's a new challenge, taking place over six laps of the new Eiger Nordwand circuit but in the reverse direction — so watch out for that nasty corner that can send you into the pit lane entry! There's 85,000cr up for victory, so it's actually a pretty decent return particularly if your Volvo is already tuned up a bit from previous appearances.

It's the joint-second highest payout this week, along with a five-lap race of Dragon Trail Seaside in the Race of Turbo Sportscars. As the name for this event suggests, you'll need a car with a turbocharger strapped to the engine to take part, and there's also a Performance Point (PP) cap of 700PP. The winner's prize is the same as the Volvo event: 85,000cr.

Bringing up the rear in terms of value is the European Sunday Cup 400 race at Kyoto Driving Park Yamagiwa. It may only be a two-lap race of this long course, and there's no PP limit — the only requirements are a road car from a European brand — but the 25,000cr first-place prize is a drop in the ocean.

Similarly there's only 40,000cr on offer if you take the win in the Japanese 4WD Challenge 600 at the Nurburgring Sprint track. It is at least a short enough track and the race only runs for three laps — plus there's no PP limit so you can run as potent a car as you like so long as it's a road or tuned car from a Japanese brand with four-wheel drive (or AWD, as the game makes no distinction).

Of course that leaves a higher-value race car event, which is once again the World Touring Car 800 — this time at Suzuka Circuit. It's another mixed-conditions race for cars equipped with Racing Tires and up to a hard cap of 800PP, taking place over ten laps. Rain isn't a guarantee, but it's worth having at least Intermediate tires available, not least because the win is worth 168,000cr.

It's all cash in the completion rewards this week. You'll score 100,000cr, 200,000cr, and 500,000cr tickets for completing one, three, and all five events respectively. Don't forget that you'll need to redeem these from your garage's Gifts section to add the credits to your in-game bank account.

You'll need to have completed GT Cafe Menu Book 39 and watched the ending movie in order to have access to the Weekly Challenges. The events update at midnight local time on Thursday evenings/Friday mornings, so we'd expect the next set on the morning of Friday August 23.
