Remember the Minecraft movie that's coming out next year? Warner Bros. has just revealed the first teaser trailer for it, which you can watch up above. Even if you're not interested in the film, we're curious what your thoughts are here!
It feels like this could go either way in terms of whether it's good or not. The animation looks great, the cast features some famous names such as Jason Momoa and Jack Black, and we're loving the use of Beatles music in this trailer. That said, we're already seeing concerns online that suggest going fully animated might have been a better option.
The reality is that it's very early days and we have no idea how this one is going to pan out. Here's hoping it's a lot more reminiscent of the Super Mario Bros. Movie than something like Borderlands... we'll just have to wait and see!
Here's a bit more information about the plot behind the film ahead of its cinema release in April 2025:
"Welcome to the world of Minecraft, where creativity doesn't just help you craft, it's essential to one's survival! Four misfits—Garrett "The Garbage Man" Garrison (Momoa), Henry (Hansen), Natalie (Myers) and Dawn (Brooks)—find themselves struggling with ordinary problems when they are suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal into the Overworld: a bizarre, cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination.
To get back home, they'll have to master this world (and protect it from evil things like Piglins and Zombies, too) while embarking on a magical quest with an unexpected, expert crafter, Steve (Black). Together, their adventure will challenge all five to be bold and to reconnect with the qualities that make each of them uniquely creative…the very skills they need to thrive back in the real world."
