Brian Horton, formerly the creative director for Insomniac's Marvel's Wolverine game on PlayStation 5, has joined Xbox's The Initiative studio to lead the development of Perfect Dark. This move occurred sometime in the summer, with Microsoft confirming that Horton will be "bringing his wealth of experience to the upcoming reboot of the classic secret agent series."
Following Horton's departure, the leadership of Marvel's Wolverine has been taken over by the team behind Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. Marcus Smith is now the creative director, and Mike Daly has assumed the role of game director for the project.
This shift in development teams highlights the fluid nature of talent movement in the gaming industry. Horton's experience, which includes work on Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Rise of the Tomb Raider, is expected to benefit the Perfect Dark reboot, which recently showcased its first gameplay trailer in June.
Neither Marvel's Wolverine nor Perfect Dark has an official release date at this time. The Perfect Dark reboot is being developed for Xbox Series X|S and PC, while Marvel's Wolverine remains a PlayStation 5 exclusive.
