A new complete English fan translation for Popolocrois Monogatari 2, a PlayStation 1 RPG, has been released. This translation allows non-Japanese speakers to experience the game in its entirety for the first time.
Key points about this translation:
1. The game: Popolocrois Monogatari 2 was originally developed by G-Artists and published by Sony Computer Entertainment (SCEI) exclusively in Japan in 2000.
2. Translation history: A partial translation was included in a PSP title that combined events from Popolocrois Monogatari 1 and 2, but it cut many cutscenes and locations.
3. New translation details:
- Builds upon a partially completed patch released in 2022
- Created by a team including Zenksren, LostOkina, Wyrdwad, Aquagon, ERT, and others
- Available for download from ROM Hack Plaza
- Tested to work on real hardware, Retroarch (SwanStation core), standalone DuckStation, and no$psx emulators
4. Series context: This is actually the third game in the Popolocrois series, following the original Popolocrois Monogatari (1996) and Poporogue (1998).
5. Availability: The translation patch for the first PS1 game in the series is also available online.
You can download it here. A translation of the first PS1 game is also available online.
This new translation allows English-speaking players to fully experience Popolocrois Monogatari 2 as it was originally intended, without the cuts and compromises of previous localization attempts.
