Brian Horton, who was previously the creative director for Marvel's Wolverine on PS5, has left Insomniac Games to join Xbox's Perfect Dark development team. This move occurred sometime during the summer of 2024, with Horton taking on the role of creative director for the upcoming Perfect Dark reboot.
Following Horton's departure, Insomniac Games has restructured the leadership for the Wolverine project:
1. Marcus Smith is now the creative director for Marvel's Wolverine.
2. Mike Daly has taken over as the game director.
Both Smith and Daly previously worked together on the acclaimed PS5 title Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, released in 2021.
The change in leadership for the Wolverine project was reportedly due to creative decisions surrounding the game's development. Meanwhile, Microsoft has confirmed Horton's new position on the Perfect Dark team, stating that he will be "bringing his wealth of experience to the upcoming reboot of the classic secret agent series."
This move represents a significant shift of talent between two major console-exclusive projects. While Wolverine is being developed for PS5, Perfect Dark is an upcoming Xbox Series X|S and PC title. Neither game has an official release date at this time.
