Yesterday, the Xbox 360 store officially closed down for good. All digital content that hadn't been brought over to the new backwards compatible storefront has now disappeared - and strangely, so has the whole store section of the Xbox 360 dashboard.

Posted on Twitter late last night, down below we can see a new look at how the 360 dashboard is laid out after Microsoft's store closure. We were expecting blank tiles here, or maybe an error message when you entered the store - but the entire store section has just been completely removed from the dash!

We suppose it does look cleaner this way, it just seems so bare compared to what we're used to seeing from this final iteration of the Xbox 360 dashboard. Oh well, at least the servers remain live and players should be able to access their purchase/download history for the foreseeable future.

In other strange Xbox 360 news, it's been spotted that the original version of Sonic Generations has also vanished from the Xbox Store - including on the modern backwards compatible storefront. Whether this is to do with the upcoming Sonic X Shadow Generations remaster, we're not sure, but it remains live on other platforms at the time of posting.

Anyway, we hope to see Sonic Generations return to the store despite SEGA's upcoming remaster, but as for everything stuck on that old Xbox 360 Marketplace - that's all officially gone forever. Rest in peace, Xbox 360 store.
