During a launch event today, XREAL announced a new accessory for its augmented reality glasses: the XREAL Beam Pro. This is very much a souped-up version of the much-needed XREAL Beam which makes the Beam Pro and a pair of XREAL glasses function without the need of a smartphone. It features a 6.5-inch LCD screen with a refresh rate of 90 Hz, an unspecified Snapdragon processor, 4300mAh battery with 27W fast charging support, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, up to 1TB expandable storage and operated on the NebulaOS which is based on Android 14.

In addition, the uncannily smartphone-looking XREAL Beam Pro includes a pair of rear cameras, equipped with Samsung ISOCELL JN1 sensors, that are capable of capturing spatial videos. These position the accessory, when connected to a pair of XREAL Glasses, as a competitor to the Apple Vision Pro. In the promotional video, XREAL is marketing the Beam Pro for gaming ends as their AR glasses have become popular gaming companions.

However, these news come from a launch event aimed at the Chinese market, and the global availability of the XREAL Beam Pro is not confirmed. It is available to preorder in China starting at CNY 1,299 (around$179) for the 6GB + 128GB Wi-Fi version. A 5G model, starting at CNY 1999, will be available as from August.
