Social gamers who love The Legend of Zelda can now play Ocarina of Time with friends.

Oh yes. Although this sounds too good to be true, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Online is a free multiplayer experience.

However, it does require that you to know your way around an emulator. Not only that, but you'll need a ROM of the original N64 game.

I'm by no means experienced with emulators, however, I can walk you through the basics of what you'll need to do.

Once you have the ROM, you'll want to download the OotModLoader, as will the friends you intend to play with.

Doing so will create an online lobby, where up to four players can prepare for the new adventure ahead.

The 1998 classic isn't for the faint of heart, for it throws many challenges your way as you journey across Hyrule to save the day.

Being able to bring friends along for the ride not only means Link will also have companions by his side, but that defeating bosses should be much easier.

You don't need companions to help you find a hidden NPC in the game, but having several pairs of eyes will speed up the process; should you want to explore rather than fight.

And while you're at it, you should make sure to make use of one of the biggest Ocarina of Time secrets that's eluded fans for years. Trust us, it'll make tackling certain enemies much simpler.

Once you've saved the day, it'll be time for you to part ways with your friends so that you can play the brutal sequel to this iconic title. Just make sure to have your mates close by for moral support.

Nintendo didn't think to add multiplayer to Ocarina of Time, but that doesn't mean you have to go without, thanks to Ocarina of Time Online.
