Retro "Doom 64" has been ported to the Sega Dreamcast

Doom 64 has been the black sheep of the series for quite some time, and it wasn't until a few years ago that Doom 64 got an official modern port to consoles and PC (Steam). Although Doom 64 is sometimes overlooked, it is still a very good and highly atmospheric sequel to Doom 2. While Doom 64 doesn't have as many enemies as Doom 2, with some like the Revenant, Chaingunner and Archville being absent from the sequel, the game more than makes up for it with its atmosphere of dread and the unique and eerie soundtrack that accompanies every level.

Before Doom 64 was re-released for modern audiences, it had its fair share of community-made recreated source ports, with the most prominent engine being Doom64 EX, which allowed for Doom64 to get fan ports, like Doom64 DS. However, with the most recent updates and developments seen in the Nintendo 64 decompilation communities, Doom 64 is one game from the growing list of N64 games that are have an existing decompilation / reverse-engineered project done by Erick194, which allows for way more compatibility given it's in C language.

With a decompilation project avaialble for Doom 64, developer Jnmartin84 started work on a new homebrew port of the title, with the target console this time being the Sega Dreamcast.

The port so far is complete, and a few things have been fixed from the original release, with the most popular one being that the game was too dark at times, and the port also includes some VMU icons for the game. Additionally, Falco Girgis, a Dreamcast SDK developer involved in this port, has also mentioned that they are planning to add more features, like support for Mouse + Keyboard, Dual-analog sticks, and Rumble packs.

Those interested in checking out the Doom64 Dreamcast port, can do so by checking Jnmartin84 GitHub repository where the source code is hosted, A ROM dump of the original Doom 64 is required in order to successfully compile the project into a working Dreamcast ISO/CDI file.
