A project to hack the entire Game Boy Mega Man series into Game Boy Color versions is underway, and has received two new entries!
The project started with Mega Man World 5 DX back in 2022, followed by Mega Man World: Dr. Wily's Revenge GBC.
Now, the following two entries have been added:
Mega Man World II GBC Edition was made by SpecialAgentApe and forple. Besides adding color, the hack comes with multiple graphic fixes and improvements like background animations. And the most important of all: a totally new soundtrack and redone sound effects made from scratch, remixed by forple. Not only that, but you can choose between the new soundtrack and the original one in the title screen, making sure that those who still want the original soundtrack experience can.
Meanwhile, Mega Man World 3 DX was made by marc_max and Kensuyjin33. Once again this hack goes beyond just adding color; it fixes hitboxes, improves animations that had errors in the original game, and removes all slowdowns. It also includes small tweaks to level design for a better experience.
This leaves the saga with just a single uncolorized entry left, and it's already in the works; before long the entire project will be complete!
