We try to keep politics out of our reporting here at GameParadise, mainly because it seems to cause nothing but trouble 99.9% of the time, but we couldn't resist this one – yes, someone has added the Democrat Vice President nominee Tim Walz to Crazy Taxi.
If you're wondering why this has happened, allow us to explain.
When Joe Biden dropped out of the presidential race in July, Kamala Harris stepped up and named Walz her VP. Thrust into the spotlight, Walz's personal life became news – and The New York Times published a report about the Minnesota governor that mentioned he played his Dreamcast so much that his wife had to hide it from him.
Yes, Walz is a gamer.
Now, Walz has been immortalised in the Dreamcast game he was apparently...

The announcement was made in a short video posted on the publisher's YouTube channel earlier today, which provides more footage of the game's hectic four-player multiplayer, along with a glimpse at the new fighter, the Chinese opera actress Liu Feilin, from the Fighter's History Series.
If you want to try the game out early, there's a demo of the remake already available on Steam, which you can download here.

If you're a fan of Lionhead's classic 2001 god game Black & White, you'll no doubt understand the struggle of getting the game to run on modern computers. But it seems like help is on the way, as reported by GamingOnLinux and RockPaperShotgun.
This is because OpenBlack — a new open-source reimplementation of Black & White — has just released its first public version (version 0.1.0) online, signalling an attempt to provide better support for the original game across Mac, PC, Linux, and other devices — provided you have your original discs handy.
According to the announcement post on the project's GitHub, OpenBlack has been in development for 6 years, with initial work on the project starting back in August 2018. Since then, its...
A store page has appeared for the original PC-8801mkIISR version of Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes on the Nintendo Switch eShop, indicating it will be the next classic Japanese computer game reissued on the console as part of D4Enterprise's EGGCONSOLE series.
Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes was originally released in 1989 in Japan on the NEC computer, before being ported and reissued to various other devices such as the NEC 9801, FM Towns, MSX2, Turbografx CD/PC Engine CD-ROM², Sharp X68000, Sega Mega Drive, Super Famicom (+ Satellaview), PC, PlayStation, and Sega Saturn.
Out of all of these, only the TurboGrafx-CD version was ever released in the West, with this reissue being nominated for Electronic Games's 1993 Electronic...
We dread to think what it's like to work in Anbernic's design office – those poor guys must literally get no sleep whatsoever.
The company is famous for pumping out new models on an almost monthly basis these days, and it has already shown off a vertical handheld called the RG40XX V, which we're looking to review very soon.
However, despite the arrival of that system, Anbernic has now announced another device in the same bracket – the RG406V (thanks, Retro Dodo).
"The RG 406V comes in three colors: off-white, black transparent, and gray. It features a 4-inch 960x720 IPS touchscreen, allowing PS2 games to be displayed at 1.5x pixel-to-pixel, resulting in an excellent overall experience," says Anbernic.
"This device supports a wide...
Over the last few weeks, GoRetroid has gradually been revealing more information about its upcoming handhelds, the Retroid Pocket Mini & Retroid Pocket 5. However, up until now, we had very little information about when exactly the devices would go on sale, how much they would cost, and what we might expect from them in terms of available RAM and storage.
As anticipated, though, that information was just around the corner, with GoRetroid posting a tweet to social media with all of the above included.
In this post, GoRetroid revealed that pre-orders for both devices will start on Monday, September 9th at 9PM EST/6PM PDT, which is 3AM BST on Tuesday, September 10th in the UK. They also offered an update on the individual pricing and...
Sega's Super Hang-On is one of the company's best 'Super Scaler' racers, but you really need to experience the arcade original to get the full impact, thanks to its authentic handle bar interface.
Of course, if you're comfortable hacking stuff, then you could always take @DrTomTilley's approach. He picked up a child's toy at a local thrift store and converted it into the ultimate way to play Super Hang-On at home.
"Using a $5 Paw Patrol toy I found at an op-shop/thrift store to play the arcade classic Super Hang-On," he says. "It uses a Raspberry Pi-Zero and you easily revert it back to the original toy (with an additional hole where the USB cable went)."
You might remember Tilley's work from his amazing Monkey Ball and Katamari...
A Steam page has just been launched for a promising new Kirby-esque platformer called SANAE's Sylphid Breeze, which is a fangame based on Team Shanghai Alice's popular shoot 'em up series Touhou Project.
The game is being developed by the Japanese developer sorehodoh and is an expanded remake of a title that they originally distributed at Comiket85 in Japan back in 2013.
It sees players take control of Sanae Kochiya — one of the recurring characters from Touhou Project who made her first appearance as a boss in the tenth title Mountain of Faith — with the goal being to guide the priestess across a dangerous land filled with Yōkai.
To do this, players will be able to use the priestess's ability to absorb characters into her umbrella...
Mirthwood's visuals are, in fact, enchanting — that's what first caught my interest. But its genre hooked me: it is a medieval fantasy RPG life/farm-sim adventure game. Mirthwood is set to launch for PC next week but that won't be the end. The team behind Mirthwood has revealed a roadmap about what to expect post-launch. The six updates begin soon after the game is released and through to the middle of 2025. New features will include (but is not limited to) fishing, companions, seasonal content, and co-op multiplayer.
Mirthwood begins with you fleeing a war-torn continent and ending up in this enchanting land where NPCs always go about their daily lives. Create your new life by building your homestead, exploring various regions...
A free fan game was launched on itch.io earlier this week that crosses Sega's classic shoot 'em up series Fantasy Zone with the mobile hit Flappy Bird. And unsurprisingly, it's just as addictive as the games that inspired it.
Fantasy Zone - Flappy Opa-Opa was built in just one week by the developer Icy Guidance in Stencyl — a game engine for creating PC, mobile, and web projects. It sees players navigate an onslaught of Super Mario-Esque green pipes, much like in the original Flappy Bird, with the title switching out Faby for Opa-Opa, the sentient spacecraft from the Fantasy Zone series.
It also adds a couple of Fantasy Zone-related tracks, which includes the memorable Game Over theme from 1992's Super Fantasy Zone that will activate...
Tech lovers in the UK will no doubt recognise the name Jason Bradbury – he was one of the hosts of the popular Gadget Show programme for many years.
What you might not be aware of is the fact that Bradbury is a keen retro gamer, and he's making a film about a group of old-school players who are tasked with taking down a "rogue AI".
Ctrl AI Delete launches on Kickstarter soon, and is described by its creator as "a retro-fueled, laugh-out-loud action comedy" that should appeal to anyone who is a fan of "the golden era of arcade machines, floppy disks and classic consoles."
Here's some more PR:
Bradbury is writing the film alongside comedian Mark Felgate, while Elizabeth Blake Thomas is directing. Iconic '90s dance act Utah Saints...
The Game Boy Color game Zephyr's Pass went on sale digitally and physically last week on Incube8 Game's website and it seems that an "unfortunate" last-minute bug has somehow managed to make it past final QA to those who purchased it.
The bug apparently causes a strange "ending" in the swashbuckling action-adventure game that prevents players from reaching the true ending, so the developer Aaron Gadol (@CRTOGRPHR) has since put out a statement on Twitter directly addressing the issue and offering a fix for those who have purchased a copy.
According to this statement, those who bought the digital edition will receive an updated build in their email, which should hopefully solve the problem.
As for those who ordered a physical copy...
GTA Vice City is a fun time, but fans of the game will remember one particular mission which gave more pain than pleasure.
The game's "Demolition Man" mission expected players to destroy a building using a remote-control helicopter and was a complete pain in the arse – so we're puzzled as to why someone assumed it would be a good idea to clone it as a stand-alone game.
Erik Games nonetheless took up that challenge, releasing HeliCity Demolition Man on PS4 as a digital download. Costing just two bucks, it saw you "take control of a powerful demolition helicopter as you navigate through a high-stakes urban environment." The goal was to "strategically plant explosive charges in a towering construction site, all while facing off against...
We recently reported on the GameBaby, a stylish-looking iPhone case which transforms your handset into a fully-fledged portable gaming system with proper physical controls.
Today, we've spotted another product which has very similar aims: the PlayCase. This 3D-printed case costs $50 and has a controller face plate which bolts onto the front of the case, offering you physical buttons to use.
It also has L and R triggers on the back, and you can swap out the D-pad and buttons for alternative options to ensure you get the control style you want – with new face plate styles planned for the future.
When not in use, the controller portion clips onto the back of the case, and the extra parts can be stored in a keychain holder.
Given that...
Developer/publisher Kitfox Games has already worked with many indie developers to publish their games, including Six Ages: Ride Like the Wind, Dwarf Fortress, and Pupperazzi. Today, the Canadian company announced a new partnership with Blue Bottle Games for noir space sim Ostranauts. It is already available in Early Access for PC, and this collaboration is expected to give the developer the support needed to reach a 1.0 launch next year and to get more eyes on the game.
Ostranauts it is set in a solar system completely cut off from a destroyed Earth. You play as a scavenger trying to make a living, but the wage-slave scrapper life doesn't cut it. You're finally ready to go at it alone thanks to your savings and a hefty loan.
You will...
System 3, the developer of The Last Ninja series, has announced a new video game compilation coming to PC & Nintendo Switch called The Last Ninja Collection, which will be funded by a Kickstarter campaign launching on September 10th.
According to the Kickstarter description, this collection will contain The Last Ninja, Last Ninja 2, Last Ninja Remix, and Last Ninja 3, as well as other System 3 games like International Karate, International Karate+, and Bangkok Knights. All of these will contain their Commodore 64 editions, as well as additional versions, where possible, for the Commodore Amiga 500 and ZX Spectrum. These can be selected from a special submenu after initially picking the game you want to play.
Speaking about the...
Solo developer Andre Gareis and publisher Dear Villagers have partnered together to launch narrative, non-linear detective game Mindcop. Set to launch later this year for PC, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch, Mindcop puts you in the shoes of the titular detective, trying to determine which of a camp's inhabitants is a murderer. It mixes a story-driven adventure, investigation time management, and real-time puzzle mechanics.
Gareis has been working on Mindcop for six years. He hopes to bring fresh ideas to the detective game genre. "Mindcop is my first commercial game project, a detective game in which players really become the detectives and make all the choices," says Gareis in a press release. "My aim was to create a small world with...
AYANEO's Remake line of products boasts an array of gaming systems in various form factors, but it also includes a cute little power bank shaped like a Super NES / Super Famicom. The Chinese firm has even copied the console's iconic font, but it goes without saying that this isn't an official collaboration with Nintendo, but rather a cheeky tribute which uses nostalgia to encourage a purchase.
This 12000mAh bank measures 98 × 81 × 24.4 mm and weighs 238 grams. It showcases a function switch, action button and 32 × 128-pixel monochrome OLED display, as well as two USB-C ports, both of which are capable of outputting 45W of power (only the left-side one can be used to charge the bank itself, however).
It's also worth noting that when...

Worms Armageddon – which is getting a remaster on modern systems – is the first of the two games:
The second title is Eutechnyx's 1997 top-down racer Motor Mash:
Steve Cottam, CEO of Antstream, had this to say:
The cloud-based Antstream Arcade offers over 1300 titles across a wide selection of devices, including consoles, phones and even TVs. A yearly sub costs £39.99, while a limited-time lifetime subscription is available for a one-off payment of £99.99.
